About Attorney Collins

Attorney Collins is a graduate of Boston College, with Bachelor and Masters degrees in Philosophy.  He has taught Special Education classes in Boston, MA and later Philosophy at St. Anselm’s College, in Manchester, NH. In 1979 he earned his JD degree and was admitted to practice law in NH and in Federal Courts. In 1981, he completed a Master of Laws program at Boston University and received an LLM degree.

In addition to to his practice in NH state courts and admission to the United States District Court for the State of New Hampshire and the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Districts of New Hampshire and Worcester MA, he is admitted to the United States Tax Court.

George has been a Member of NAELA, the National Network of Estate Planning Attorneys and Wealth Counsel, and currently is a Member of the New Hampshire Bar Association’s Elder Law and Probate as well as Family Law Sections, and of the Collaborative Law Alliance of New Hampshire (CLANH).

The Collaborative Alliance is a group of financial planners, counselors and attorneys who work to solve disputes through open and honest communication, standards of fairness and cooperation with their similarly minded clients and other professionals. What’s the ‘Collaborative’ difference? It’s an open secret that the adversarial process is antagonistic, sometimes ruthlessly unfair and rewards winners and punishes losers more often than it achieves results that are tolerable by both sides. Adversarial battles tend not yo serve the interests of entire families.

The Collaborative approach will not appeal or be available to everyone and can only work when there is a reasonable respect for an opponent and a committed wish to be fair to all concerned.

George has been a member of law firms in Manchester, Londonderry and Concord NH and currently practices as a solo practitioner in Goffstown where he and Maureen Collins, RN, BSN, have lived since 1971. Maureen has been in Nursing since 1968, run hospital intensive care units, done quality control, had charge of a Nursing Home floor and now does home visits, surely her most emotionally and physically demanding, and personally rewarding, nursing assignment.

George has been a School and Budget Committe Member over the years in Goffstown and has also be a member of the Trustee panel that administers the Town’s trust funds.

Other than his practice areas, his primary legal missions relate to promoting human rights and ethical conduct in international affairs.
